Coffee Break Spanish was honoured this evening in a ceremony in Hamburg, Germany as European Professional Podcast of the Year, as part of the European Podcast Awards. Coffee Break Spanish host Mark Pentleton was in Hamburg to collect the award. In December Coffee Break Spanish was awarded UK Podcast of the Year in the Professional category and was put forward for the European award. We're delighted to receive this award and would like to thank all listeners who voted and the organisers of the European Podcast Awards.
We're absolutely over the moon to announce that Coffee Break Spanish has won the Best UK Professional Podcast in the European Podcast Awards which were announced tonight. We're delighted to announce that two Radio Lingua podcasts have been shortlisted in the 2008 Podcast Awards. Coffee Break French has been shortlisted in the Education category, and Coffee Break Spanish has been chosen as one of ten podcasts in the prestigious People's Choice category.

Mark and Kara from Coffee Break Spanish were down in Cardiff yesterday to pick up a coveted European Award for Languages, presented by Isabella Moore, CEO of CILT, the National Centre of Languages on behalf of the European Commission. Watch the video of the proceedings below.
Coffee Break Spanish has won a European Award for Languages. The award recognises "creative ways to improve the quality of language teaching, motivate students and make the best of available resources". It's a Europe-wide initiative supported by the European Commission. The UK co-ordinator of the initiative is CILT, the National Centre for Languages. In total 15 initiatives were recognised involving language-learners of all ages. According to the judges, "the success of Coffee Break Spanish across the world shows that podcasting can promote language awareness and competence regardless of geographical location". Kara and I will be at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on 20 November to accept the award. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support of Coffee Break Spanish, and we're looking forward to the new season beginning in a few weeks.
